White sofas can act as a great centrepiece

People thinking of investing in white sofas could use the items as an interesting centrepiece, according to experts who say creating a focal point is a good way to make a room look interesting.

Interior designer Jan Showers said that having plenty of seating areas is an important part of creating a usable and functional living room which can be used for entertaining.

She said: "Create a shimmer and shine in your room. It really does change things up and that's glamorous [...] I think it's really important for your home to be a place where you can relax, but feel your best."

The designer added that people can use a range of techniques in order to create glamour in any space, including hanging mirrors and adding throws to a white sofa.

Apartment Therapy recently reviewed a home in Marrakech which it said used white furniture and boasted a toned down, simple look throughout that created a laidback atmosphere.
